is proud to provide

EDPC therapy

The right step in drastically reducing the number of leg and foot amputations in America.

Our goal

Currently there are 28 million Americans with circulatory problems and 14 million living with diabetes. Of those, 30% have peripheral vascular disease and 15% suffer from ulcers of the lower extremities resulting in an astonishing 69,000 lower leg and foot amputations nationwide each year. Bryn Mawr Wound Care & Vascular Center is dedicated to the treatment of peripheral vascular disorders by proudly providing EDPC (End Diastolic Pneumatic Compression) therapy – a proven, non-surgical, safe and painless alternative for patients being considered for leg and foot amputations. We are the largest and most experienced EDPC therapy provider in the nation. Located in the Medical building at the prestigious Bryn Mawr Hospital, the Wound Care and Vascular Center maintains and operates fifteen of the patented “boots” which provide this vital treatment. Our facility has treated a number of individuals who have been told that their only option left is amputation of the affected limb. In these cases, EDPC therapy has proven particularly effective. EDPC therapy aids in the treatment of non-healing diabetic ulcers, significant peripheral disease and venous stasis ulcers. It is also particularly effective in helping to restore circulation in individuals who have had failed lower limb bypass surgery, or those who are not candidates for such a surgery because of medical reasons. The EDPC “boot” acts as a cardiac assist mechanism, to force oxygenated blood into the leg and foot resulting in dramatic healing of severe ulcers and relief of pain associated with peripheral vascular disease. At the present time, the “boot” is the only End Diastolic Cardiac device approved by the FDA and covered by Medicare. Now, thanks to EDPC therapy, it is entirely possible to heal wounds that have typically been treated with amputation.
